Business & Economics

Business & Economics has a highly dedicated, supportive, humorous and effective team. We also have a good track record of developing colleagues within the department so that they can move to the next step in their career progression.

Curriculum Intent

The department uses a range of teaching and learning techniques, centred on real world scenarios and case studies where possible and trying to relate what we study to the local community where we can. We are always looking for new ways to engage pupils. We encourage experimentation in new techniques, especially those which are firmly rooted in real life scenarios.

We are a well-resourced department, using electronic textbooks for GCSE work and usually having access to Computing rooms for GCSE lessons. Sixth form classes have a dedicated sixth form teaching room, located in the Computing building.

We tend to offer different things each year as we respond to current events and opportunities. Examples from recent experience include: The Chestnut Tree House £50 Challenge; The Marketing Eye, Young Business Minds competition; trips to the Sidcup plant of Coca-Cola UK PLC; and trips to New York.
