Enrichment week is designed every year in keeping with the overall curriculum intent:
A vision of ambition and breadth; high-quality experiences both in and out of lessons are carefully designed to develop the knowledge and characteristics needed to be able to access, succeed and thrive at the highest levels.
Bespoke to our students, building on their starting point and the expertise of our staff, both intent and implementation drive excellence as standard; not a moment wasted.
It aims to provide all students with the opportunity to step outside their comfort zone and try things they might otherwise not have the ability to do. This could be in College, at on off-site location or even abroad.
It allows staff and students to be seen and valued in a different light as staff bring their personal skills and talents to the fore whilst students are supported to be ambitious in their choices whether geographically or emotionally. Experiences for all tastes and pockets are available; tracking ensures there is something for everyone whilst steps are taken to ensure nobody’s personal circumstances prevents them from the experiences that create a week to remember as part of their Heathfield entitlement.
Variety of enrichment offered is impressive and plenty to suite everyone. Well organised and communicated. I think the week is a credit to the school. The organisation behind this week must have been immense and I’m very grateful that my daughter has been given the chance to join in with this. As a family we understand the importance of all subjects taught at school but we feel very strongly that talents beyond the curriculum should be recognised and celebrated and children as individuals recognised for more than just their academic achievements. Enrichment week offers the perfect opportunity and whist allowing children to apply what they have learnt to new situations it also celebrates lots of important aspects that the national Curriculum doesn’t allow for. It is brave and forward thinking of the school and allows all pupils to challenge themselves, take risks and shine in different areas… so important!
Ellouise has come home so enthusiastic and for the first time since starting she has mentioned that she might like to take creative media as one of her subjects which was amazing as she has never really spoken about what subjects she would like to think about taking and she’s been really chatty and wanting to tell us about her day which is great she’s learnt a lot of new skills which is amazing.
