Measuring the impact of any strategy using just exam results is an inaccurate science. This has been made more challenging by the way results have been issued in the last academic year. Therefore, although we do analyse exam results and look for any impact the iPad may have had, we also take a much more holistic view of the impact technology is having on student learning.
This includes:
- Results analysis
- Department conversations
- Digital Health Checks
- Surveys
- Learning walks
- Lesson observations
- Quality Assurance
- Local and Regional Research Projects
Through our range of analysis and data collection methods we are able to gain an insight into the impact the iPad and technology is having on the learning experience of our students.
All data collected and research undertaken provides us with the evidence of how any strategies we implement are impacting on our students. This allows us to plan for any future professional learning, adapt behaviour expectations and provides a basis upon which we can ensure consistency across the College and a basis to allow further innovation and progress. A shared approach to success means that all areas of the College community take responsibility for adapting their practice and strategy to ensure the student remains at the forefront of our vision. The teacher adapting their teaching based on misconceptions identified from an online quiz is having as much of an impact as the decisions taken around digital strategy.
One of the most powerful sources of information for us is talking with staff and students. FInd out below how iPad and technology is having an impact on the day to day learning that takes place at Heathfield Community College and the impact it is having on our students journey to their future.
