In the last week we have been delighted to recognise the success of students who have recently left the College. We are clear our aim is to equip students to achieve outcomes that open doors and the characteristics to make a difference in the world. This is especially true of the two students profiled recently.
Mason Dain:
from the Year 11 of 2025, has recently been awarded with the Young Person of the Year Award at the Ashdown Radio Community Awards in September.
The award celebrated his volunteering at Dudwell St Mary Care Home, where he is a well-loved volunteer. However Mason has been an integral part of our community since joining the school in September 2020. As well as being successful in his academic studies with an exceptional approach to study and learning, Mason was a member of the Lead Team, led College Council and had impact across the college through his thoughtful and compassionate approaches.
Luke Stoner:
Luke has been interviewed by local and regional press about his business which he has diligently been building since leaving the College in 2024. Luke and his dad, Jason have spent the last year converting and designing a business that seeks to inspire young people into the computing and gaming industry. … taking their motivation to local schools through a converted school bus equipped with a fabulous range of different computers and consoles from the 1990s such as a Sega Dreamcast, Nintendo 64 and an Atari 2600 from 1978 among many others. We are very proud of the entrepreneurial and inspirational approach taken by Luke and fully support his drive to share his enthusiasm: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cewnq7xkez5o?fbclid=IwY2xjawNV-7dleHRuA2FlbQIxMQABHl7c4Oc9ZS7VkCyB0GaZNbjOj_SCdPstI8OuEXPzDzXrETslhtZYBb-HDShi_aem_BP8BoIpCt3tZKMHxmX1IsQ
It is notable that both students during their time at the College overcame additional needs and personal challenges to succeed. They are great role models to us all and we are very happy to celebrate their success.
