On Tuesday 12 June Heathfield Community College was invited to attend the Educational Outcomes Awards Celebration ceremony in London where the College was presented with four awards.

The Educational Outcomes Awards Celebration is a regional event that is held annually to draw attention to the work of high-achieving, improving and innovating schools and teachers.

Heathfield Community College won awards for;

  • SSAT Educational Outcomes Award 2017 for exceptional student progress in the top 20% nationally
  • SSAT Educational Outcomes Award 2017 for exceptional student attainment in the top 20% nationally

These awards are presented following a process of data analysis by the ‘Schools, Students and Teachers Network’ (SSAT) which compares outcomes nationally for student progress and attainment in all state funded schools for the 2017 end of KS4 exams.

Caroline Barlow, Headteacher of Heathfield Community College and Sixth Form School, said she was delighted that the hard work and high achievement of our staff and students had been nationally recognised. “These awards mark another significant next step in our journey to realising our potential as a truly exceptional College for our students and staff. It shows the outcomes of hard work and true community. We are very proud of the students and staff whose dedication led to these results”

The College also received accreditation under SSAT’s Framework for Exceptional Education for:

  • Transforming practice in professional learning
  • Transforming practice in engagement with evidence

To achieve accreditation as transforming in practice, Heathfield Community College was reviewed by another high-performing school and an independent moderator from SSAT.

Sue Williamson, Chief Executive of the SAAT said

“I am delighted for Heathfield Community College. This recognises an important aspect of the schools’ work, but, as we know, there is much more to recognise in a good school like Heathfield Community College. SSAT is pleased to recognise the quality of leadership and the hard work of all staff to ensure the success of every child. A big thank you and well done to pupils, parents, staff and governors.”
