G&T Summer Concert

On Thursday 7 June the Music department hosted yet another successful Summer Concert, showcasing Heathfield Community College ensembles and work carried out with local primary school children as part of our Gifted and Talented Programme.

Every year Ms Evenden, Mr Marrows and Mr Cruttenden work with the primary students and the Heathfield ensembles to prepare over 6 weeks for the Summer concert. It is a chance for primary students to play alongside the older more experienced Heathfield students and develop their confidence in a friendly and nurturing environment. The Heathfield students were incredibly supportive of these younger students and it was a joy to see them working so well together.

One parent said “My daughter has found the whole experience deeply fulfilling and has thoroughly loved every minute. The opportunity to play her flute with the Heathfield Community College orchestra has been such a fantastic transitional experience for her and she is so looking forward to starting in September. We were blown away with the talent of all the students last night, and the amount of work and commitment that had gone in to last nights production was palpable.”

There were some fantastic performances from The Swing Band, String Group, Orchestra, One voice choir and Year 7 Choir. All students worked incredibly hard and put on powerhouse performances on the night, which made the music department very proud! There were also some astonishing solo performances from Louisa Dollimore, Cherry Lau and Myles Hook. It was also the last performance for some of our year 11 and 13 students and we want to thank them very much for the hard work, commitment and loyalty they have shown the music department over the years. It has been very much appreciated! A very big well done to all involved!
